What does a tall fair-haired young man whose name really is Tor, do with a degree in French Literature? Why he teaches Nordic skiing of course. Tor was born for this sport. He spent his childhood winters cross country skiing in and out of his parent’s home because they had no plow service. Out of a necessity in life a passion emerged. Tor joined the cross country ski team in high-school and went on to compete at the NCAA Division 1 level while attending the University of Nevada, at Reno. Tor also traveled to Pau France for two semesters fine tuning his conversational French skills, which came in handy when he lead a trip on the Haute Route from Chamonix FR. to Zermatt SW. in 2000. Parlevous Frances? To top it off, his 10-years of backcountry skiing experience in the High Sierras of California make him an extremely versatile skier. Tor’s passion for Nordic skiing is leading him to pursue goals that include making the sport more attractive to kids. He has also been a river guide in the off-season and enjoys honing his other talents in art, writing and photography. Tor is a contributor to The Professional Skier magazine.
