With a Scandinavian heritage, it's only natural that Dan's lifelong love has been Nordic skiing. He's already designed more than 150 kilometers of trails. His dream is to design up to 500 kilometers of world class trails through towns, as well as competition trails of the type found in Norway. Hoping to make a positive impact on the lives of children through skiing, Dan has helped bring out the best in kids as a coach of Junior Olympics in Alaska and Maine. He has been head coach of the Lakeland Nordic Ski Team for 15 years, a team that has won the Wisconsin State High School Championships six times. Dan also coached and taught skiing at Lake Mountain, Australia for nine seasons. The Junior program won Interschool Championships two years in a row. Dan specializes in teaching intermediate and advanced skiers, and has helped many athletes including some of the top 100 finishers in the Birkebeiner. While he's written articles for various ski publications, he may best be known for his photography. Dan's images have appeared in Cross Country Skier, The Professional Skier, Milwaukee Journal, Wisconsin Trails, and National Geographic Adventure magazine, among others. Dan's been involved with PSIA for more than 20 years, has been a PSIA Nordic national team member since 1993, and serves as PSIA's liaison to the Cross Country Ski Areas Association.
